Experimental painting/ collage in Raadvad/earth pigments, structures and materials

June 14-15, 10am-4pm

We have a special focus on the soil, that which grows from fungi, roots, nature's treasure trove of various structures. Especially in this workshop we develop different structures in the materials inspired by the textural world of nature in the abstract or more figurative compositions. We use various earth pigments, ash, coal in combination with more lasering liquid colors that create exciting surfaces and sensuous material clashes.

I have found new simple methods to step by step build picturesque collages. Over the past several years I have developed collage techniques that are particularly liberating for artistic development. By tearing, cutting and joining painted and drawn parts, new unpredictable compositions are created.

We work with simple collage exercises to more put together more materials, textures, lines and faces. There are many exciting possibilities in working with collage that cannot be painted.

You'll learn how to use collage/mixed media's amazing capabilities to modulate images rather than a few unexpected material clashes.

I also call them transformation pictures, as the images can change all the time with interesting and exciting results.

It is a guided journey where we work with certain meditative and liberating exercises also with space for our own free play.

We use color pigments, Golden acrylic, ash, gouache, graphite, dry pastels and the most delicious oil pastels from Sennelier to create magical textures lines and surfaces in our compositions. (the same materials I use in my own work) There will be many different interesting paper types, cardboard, canvas and other things that can be freely used. By using different materials in layers upon layers, exciting contrasts and expressions are achieved that would otherwise not be possible.
